We are currently developing an extensive range of self-drive game trails across beautiful, natural landscapes. These will be offered with a step-on guide- either in your own vehicle or a supplied and well outfitted company vehicle.
Campsites are being developed along the banks of the Keurbooms and Diep Rivers in the heart of the Middle Keurbooms Conservancy. Showers and flushing toilets are already on offer at Howard’s Heaven, a beautiful camp site along the Keurbooms river. Guided trails are on offer – you will be able to explore the kloofs and to walk along the rivers. Maps are also offered to the more adventurous types who like a bit of ‘bundu-bashing’.
Enjoy Fishing (including fly-fishing), kloofing and swimming among majestic rock formations- deep pools and cliffs adorned with fish eagle nests long the beautiful, clean Keurbooms River & Diep River. Trout fishing is allowed for catch and release only.
A range of trails following old game and elephant paths, are being developed. On foot, friendly game makes for an unforgettable experience. You will be able to experience farm manager Hennie’s intimate knowledge of fauna and flora and KRGT’s devotion to eradicating alien species and restoring the region to the way it once was. Choose between short (1-4 hour) hikes, full day hikes or overnight ventures. Hikes are booked out at R120 per hour and include snacks and drinks.
More than 100 bird species have been recorded in the conservancy. Diverse landscapes and elevations provide an opportunity to fly with some of the great raptors such as the Fish Eagle, Black Eagle, Crowned Eagle, Jackal Buzzard and Gymnogene.
With more than 40 km of challenging tracks starting and finishing at the Prince Alfred’s Pass, this activity includes a new venture in bicycle tourism where you can ride to your campsite or chalet and encounter game on the way.
